Royal Christmas Fair

We were looking to visit a christmas market for the last few weeks, and finally had a chance to drop by the Royal Christmas Fair in Den Haag on Saturday. Christmas markets or by the original name Christmas fairs are one of the most popular events you can attend if you are visiting Netherlands in December.

Royal Christmas Fair – Den Haag (The Hague)

Getting to the fair area was pretty easy. It is very close to the tram station Korte Vorhout which is also known as Museumkwartier Den Haag. When you enter the area you will see stands and shops on both sides, well, mostly attractive for women. For me it was the smell of something delicious cooking that made the first impression 🙂

We were lucky it was a warm (well at least for the first few hours) and pleasant weather. So we found enough time to walk all the way down to the end. Actually it is a little bit small, but you can still get into the celebration feeling.

After walking through all the stands we got some hotdogs (bratwurst) to eat. In the fair area you can find many good food options – mostly with a long queue in front of them – including potato fries, waffles, poffertjes, hambugers, hotdogs, oliebollen, and of course candies. (Note: I am not a vegan, but I think vegan options are a bit limited.)

Fair was really enjoyable, peaceful and even had some music, dancing and shows. But we have spent most of our time talking with friends and enjoying the time together.

In summary, it was really a good lovely night out. And, if you have a small group of friends you can definitely use this as an opportunity to get together. Next year, I am going to take more photos and share you a complete story of the night.

Side Note: Christmas celebrations start really early in Netherlands because of Sinterklaas timeline. I will get into the details of Sinterklaas in a separate post.
